Flypast by Kathleen Smith is a celebration of the history of aeroplane building in Luton. Many of the town’s street names are reference to the aeroplane history from the beginning of the 20th century. Edgar Percival set up his manufacturing company in 1936, where they built Percival Vega Gulls, Percival Proctors and twin engine Airspeed Oxfords. Flypast shows some of these aircrafts as well as aircrafts now seen at London Luton Airport. On the bottom of the elephant’s legs are some of the names of aircrafts associated with the manufacture at Luton.
