The Playful Elephant by local artist Jude Chapman represents Luton’s amazing music heritage and its current vibrant and active youth music scene. From the Luton Girls’ Choir through to award winning brass bands, music has played a big part in the town’s history. Chapman’s elephant showcases the diverse musical activities open to young people in Luton, particularly those offered by the Luton Music Mix. Music education has suffered during the pandemic, with many activities in schools cancelled. This elephant is a reminder of opportunities to play in our schools and through the music centre.
